Veilcord service terms

1. Provider

The provider is Mateusz Sury, a sole trader registered in CEIDG, ul. Biedronki 8 lok. 2, 52-200 Wysoka, Poland, VAT ID (NIP) 8961670846, REGON 545313843. Contact: [email protected]. These Terms are available free of charge and can be saved and reproduced.

2. Service

Veilcord provides an end-to-end encrypted communicator for the web, Android and Windows. Depending on the client and release, it may include messages, spaces and channels, audio/video calls, screen sharing, file transfer, P2P route establishment, rendezvous and limited forwarding of encrypted messages.

The free hosted relay covers messages. Calls and files use a direct route when one can be established. No service can guarantee that every NAT, firewall or carrier network permits a direct connection. If no direct route exists, a call or file transfer fails closed unless a future active Relay Pass covers that class or a compatible self-hosted relay is used.

3. Requirements and security

You need a current supported system and browser or app, an internet connection and, when relevant, permission for the microphone, camera, screen or selected file. Direct P2P routing exchanges participant network addresses.

You are responsible for your vault password and profile backups. Veilcord does not know the password and cannot centrally recover an account. Losing the password, keys and every profile copy may make local data permanently unreadable.

Security updates may be required. The native apps use a bounded HTTPS update manifest, reject rollback, malformed and oversized input, and verify package digest and signing identity. Installation remains subject to the operating system's explicit security flow.

4. Formation and termination

The free-service agreement exists for the duration of use once you knowingly start a feature using Veilcord infrastructure. You may terminate it by stopping use and deleting the local profile. Paid Relay Pass has separate terms shown before purchase.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use Veilcord for unlawful activity, infringement, malware distribution, automated overload, bypassing limits, testing another system without permission or unauthorised access. You are responsible for people and devices to which you knowingly grant access.

Veilcord may restrict a route, connection or token only as needed to stop ongoing abuse, protect security or comply with law.

6. Availability and liability

Veilcord applies measures appropriate to the service, but the internet, NAT, user devices and third-party services remain outside its full control. Maintenance and security incidents may interrupt service. Nothing limits mandatory consumer rights, liability for intentional harm or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. You remain responsible for local profile and data copies.

7. Complaints

Send complaints to [email protected] or the postal address above. Include the app version, operating system, problem, requested remedy and a contact method. Never send a vault password, keys or decrypted private messages. Consumer complaints are answered without undue delay and no later than 14 days unless mandatory law sets another deadline.

8. Intellectual property

Code for identified Veilcord components is offered under GNU Affero General Public License version 3 or later. The Veilcord name, marks, marketing materials and elements outside that licence remain protected. The open-source licence does not permit impersonating the hosted service operated by Mateusz Sury.

9. Privacy and changes

The Privacy Policy explains processing. Veilcord does not promise network anonymity: a P2P participant, Cloudflare and the infrastructure operator may process transmission metadata. These Terms may change for a valid reason such as law, security, features, providers or pricing. Changes do not operate retroactively or remove acquired rights.

10. Governing law

Polish law applies. This does not deprive a consumer of mandatory protection under the law of their habitual residence. Courts are determined under applicable law; these Terms do not impose an exclusive court on consumers.
